LINZ. On Wednesday evening, the 19th edition of the Crossing Europe film festival in Linz opened in the Ursulinenhof in the Upper Austrian cultural district. The love of cinema and European film is celebrated.
At the Crossing Europe film festival, Europe is invited to Linz, and the people of Linz are presented with European cinema. The 19th edition, which has now opened and will run until May 2nd, is also the first of the new director duo Sabine Gottesroither and Katharina Riedler, after the long-standing festival director Christine Dollhofer took over the management of the Vienna Film Fund.
Among the guests at the opening were numerous international filmmakers, representatives from art, culture and politics, including state parliamentarian Elisabeth Manhal, Antonia Rahofer (representing State Secretary for Culture Andrea Mayer), Linz municipal councilor Almir Balihodzic and many more. Actress Sophie Rois also insisted on a visit. On the opening night, among other things, the film “AEIOU – A Quick Alphabet of Love” (DE/FR, Nicolette Krebitz) was shown with her in the lead role.
148 films in the program
148 current feature films and documentaries from 34 countries can be seen until May 2nd, waiting to be discovered. Seven prizes are awarded by international jury members.
