The causes of the fire are still unknown.

At least 19 people died and dozens were injured in a fire that broke out in a high-rise building in the Bronx area of ​​New York. Nine children are among the dead.

This fire is called one of the largest in recent decades.

According to local media reports, the residential building caught fire on Sunday at about 11 am local time. Firefighters arrived at the scene within three minutes after the call came to the service: more than 200 people tried to extinguish the flame.

Fire deaths were found on all floors, many of them likely to have died from carbon monoxide poisoning. In total, 60 people were injured, 32 of them were hospitalized with life-threatening diagnoses. “Team members found casualties on every flight of stairs with cardiac arrest and respiratory arrest,” fire department spokesman Daniel Nigro said during a press briefing.
