British sports car manufacturer McLaren has appointed 17-year-old activist Maisie from Wales as CEO. The girl will spend one day in the role of the head of McLaren, the company said.
The action is timed to coincide with the International Day of the Girls, which is celebrated on October 11. In this way, McLaren and its partners at Plan International, a global children’s rights charity, decided to draw attention to the holiday and encourage teenagers to pursue science and engineering careers.
At McLaren, Maisie took over from boss Mike Flyitt, received CEO business cards and a personal badge. The press service of the automaker said that during the working day, the girl made strategic decisions and communicated with female company leaders, engineers, scientists and designers. Maisie studied the supercar design process and even took part in the assembly of the McLaren Artura hybrid supercar.
